The internet has existed for decades ago. Even before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, people have been using the internet vastly. It is almost impossible to find people who do not know the existence of the internet, especially during this Covid-19 pandemic season where everything went online.

In December 2019, the world was shaken by the spread of the coronavirus or Covid-19 which has caused a large number of deaths across the world. The outbreak of the virus started in Wuhan, China and it has rapidly spread throughout the world in just a short amount of time which is within a year.  

This Covid-19 virus was declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a global pandemic in March 2020. The danger of this virus has led to a significant amount of death, trauma, and fatal disease. After an alarming number of Covid-19 cases reported every day across the world which is more than hundreds of thousands, many countries have enforced the Movement Control Order (MCO) to control the number of cases in their country. People were restricted to go out and were ordered to wear a mask as well as to keep a physical distance from one another.

The COVID-19 pandemic and its related containment measures have had a significant impact on our daily life. During the outbreak of this pandemic, internet connection becomes an even more important tool in our life more than before. During this time, people’s lives can be significantly impacted by a lack of Internet connection. 

It is undeniable that the Covid-19 pandemic has dynamically changed the way we live, learn, work, shop, and socialize. The question is; how Covid-19 has changed these aspects of our lives and how is it different from before?

The vast majority of people agree that the internet plays an important role in their life, especially during the strike of the Covid-19 pandemic. There is no doubt that the pandemic Covid-19 bring significant changes in the usage of the internet. Having a high-speed internet connection is very essential during this time and age. After the outbreak of the virus, a new learning method has been introduced around the world as many public schools have been instructed to close during this pandemic. This new learning method is known as e-learning or online distance learning (ODL). Since students were being told to stay at home during this pandemic season, they were able to enter classes and continue their learning through online meeting platforms like Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Team. A significant change from traditional learning to online learning method has impacted many students mentally.

The Covid-19 pandemic not only brings a significant impact on students but also on working adults. Many business organizations have encouraged their workers and employees to remotely work from home to control the spread of the virus. Thanks to the existence of the internet, many people can continue to work and earn their monthly income even at home.

The COVID-19 pandemic has permanently altered internet shopping habits since people were restricted to go out. With the advancement of technology as well as the internet, almost everyone is able to shop and make a payment transaction online now. With a single click, people can shop and make a payment from anywhere and at any time through e-commerce platforms like Shopee, Lazada and Shein. 


If we talk about the time before the strike of the Covid-19 pandemic, people would go find their kind of entertainment outside of their homes. However, since the movement control order (MCO) has been enforced, people are no longer able to do that anymore. Thanks to the existence of the internet, people can find any sort of entertainment through online games, movies, and social media platforms.
